The Praise that sets free
Dear friends, I was a guest at the Betania Community in Borgaro Torinese, a special occasion to be together with brothers and sisters to reflect on the liberating power of Praise.
We meditated on the experience of St. Paul in Acts 16:22-34: at what should have been a moment of maximum despair, Paul and Silas sang and praised God, and suddenly an earthquake freed them from their chains and the prison walls.
As well as Paul and Silas, we experience daily imprisonment, that is, our struggles, our broken hopes and dreams. We ask our Lord for the grace to experience the liberating power of Praise, just like they did.
We recalled the episode of Jehoshaphat's victory over the Moabites in 2 Chronicles 20: Jehoshaphat appointed singers, dressed in sacred vestments, to march at the head of the army singing: "Give thanks to the Lord, for his steadfast love endures forever!" And the Lord fought for them and destroyed their enemies!
Praise anticipates victory!
